Michigan Football Manager Scholarship

Who are the University of Michigan football managers?

As full-time students at the University of Michigan, football managers often volunteer more than 30 hours per week to attending every practice and supporting the team and staff on the field and off. A typical day during the season will see a manager attend class from the early morning until the afternoon, and then arrive at Schembechler Hall for practice. On a daily basis the managers assist the coaching staff, coordinating the use of equipment and working with each coach to make sure each drill can be executed. On game days, managers work the sidelines and maintain responsibility which range from charting plays to ensuring proper communication from the coach’s box to the field.

What is our goal?

Currently only one individual, the senior manager, receives any compensation for their commitment to the football program. Our goal is to give back and create an endowed fund (at least $100,000) which will provide additional tuition support for the other managers who are seniors and have worked with the team for at least two seasons. An endowed fund will ensure that a financial benefit will consistently be rewarded to managers on a year to year basis.

How we plan to do it?
In order to raise the intended amount, we have launched this site and survey to better understand the possibility of making our dream a reality. Our survey can be found on the Support page linked below. Understanding that an endowed fund will require at least $100,000 to be raised over a five to seven year period, we look to engage individuals who have formerly been involved with the football program. We will reach out to former managers, alumni, players, and football staff in our attempt to accumulate funding for the scholarship. These mentioned groups understand the unwavering commitment from the managers and will be willing to support our effort.

Why should you join our effort?

The roles of managers typically go unnoticed, but remain essential to the success of the team. As supporters of Michigan football, whether it be former managers, players, staff, or fans, we ask you to recognize the importance and commitment level of a Michigan football manager and help us support those that serve our beloved program on a volunteer basis. Our united efforts will make this scholarship a reality in the near future. Go Blue!
